We completed the production of 2 sets of wood shaving mills and successfully sent them to Rwanda. This batch of equipment will help the local livestock farms to utilize the wood trimmings to produce shavings bedding with excellent water absorption and enhance the healthy breeding environment for livestock.

Client background and core requirements

The Rwandan client is a local livestock breeding service provider, specializing in providing integrated solutions for dairy cows, meat pigs and other livestock farms.

  • Traditional straw bedding is prone to mold growth, resulting in a 15% incidence of mastitis in dairy cows. Customers need 0.5-3mm wood shavings to replace straw and reduce the risk of respiratory diseases in livestock by utilizing its high water absorption and low dust characteristics.
  • Rwanda produces more than 500,000 tons of forestry waste annually, and the customer realizes the mixed use of wood trimmings, coffee husks, etc. through the processing of shavings, which not only reduces the pollution of incineration, but also reduces the cost of purchasing bedding material by more than 40%.

Advantage of the wood shaving mill

  • It can process logs, branches and plate trimmings with a diameter of ≤30cm, and through the adjustable blade angle and screen aperture (0.5-3mm), it can simultaneously meet the demand for fine bedding for dairy cows and coarse pellets for meat pigs.
  • Equipped with a 30kW motor and Shaklon dust removal system, the machine maintains a capacity of 3 tons/hour at a high temperature of 40°C, reducing energy consumption by 20% compared to traditional equipment.
  • The diesel-driven version is suitable for the Nyaburu area, which is not covered by the electricity grid, and is equipped with 20 hammer blades and 4 belts, so that farmers can be trained to perform routine maintenance.

After the wood shaving mills finished, our engineers carried out a strict quality inspection to ensure the smooth operation and reliable performance of the equipment. Afterwards, the machine was carefully protected and packaged, and safely loaded into the container, ready to be shipped to Rwanda.

On the day of shipment, we also sent photos of the equipment packing and a short video of the scene to the customer to ensure that the customer can see the whole process at a glance.
